100 Spins of the Original Tomb Raider

March 14, 2012

A couple of weeks back we bought you a 100 spins analysis of Tomb Raider: Secrets of the Sword. For this weeks hundred spins article we thought it might be fun to step back in time and play the original Tomb Raider online slot by Microgaming. This is an older slot, several years old in fact, but it still regularly features on lists of the most popular online slots.

We started out with an opening balance of 3,962 coins. Tomb Raider is a 5 reel, 15 pay line online slot, and we played all lines at a coin size of 5, which meant 37.50 coins wagered per spin.

Tomb Raider Wins

Out of 100 spins, we had only 34 wins. This number seems quite low for a non-progressive jackpot slot. However, unlike modern online slots, which pay many small wins often, to keep the player amused, Tomb Raider paid much larger wins, with around 70% of the wins being more the original wager.

Tomb Raider Biggest Win

We had two decent wins whilst playing out 100 spins. The largest was a 1,250 coin win, which came in on a straight spin, no bonus feature or free spins. These second was 777 coins from a bonus feature.

Tomb Raider Wild and Scatter Symbols

The wild symbol, which is the Tomb Raider logo spins in pretty frequently, and makes an appearance in almost every win. The scatter symbol, which is depicted by Lara Craft wielding a pair of 9mm handguns, also spin in quite often, but only in two’s so we never got to trigger the free spin feature for 3 or more scatter symbols. However, 2 scatter symbols is cool, it’s an extra 75 coins every time it happens, and it happens frequently.

Tomb Raider Bonus Feature

We did get to trigger a single bonus feature during our 100 spins, by spinning in 3 idol figures on a pay line. This triggered a side game, which prompted us to choose 3 idols, and each idol revealed an amount beneath it, we raked in 777 coins on this single bonus feature. This is quite an old online slot, so the bonus feature is quite basic, no animation or 3D graphics, which as actually quite refreshing.

Overall, despite being quite old, Tomb Raider is still a fun slot to play. After 100 spins we ended up with a balance of 3,752 coins which equals a net loss of 210 coins.
