Classic slots almost always feature a wild symbol, as well as scatter symbols. Most usually the scatter symbol is also used as the trigger for free spins. However, there are less wild symbols and scatter symbols on the reels than there would be on a modern bonus feature style slot. Once again, when these symbols do spin in, they are worth considerably more than on a 30+ win line slot.

Most of the big progressive jackpot online slots are classic slots, and for a very good reason. People who are chasing a progressive jackpot payout want to get as many spins in as they can in as short amount of time possible. The more spins, the more chance of hitting that big progressive payout.

Classic online slots are enjoyed by people who prefer to get their excitement from the actual gambling taking place, and do not want to be interrupted by bonus features which interrupt gameplay. If you ever played an old style fruit machine, or one armed bandit, then you already have a good idea of what makes a classic slot tick. Online classic slots are the digital equivalent of these older casino slots.
