Casino Software
Emerging Casino Technology
November 15, 2012
It has been an exciting year with regards to online casino software. We have seen several key technologies begin to be used; and these technologies will make a massive impact in 2013. Much of this innovation is due to the increasing popularity of mobile devices, and the trend for online casino sites to produce some form of mobile online gambling application.
Possibly the hottest technology that we are going to see used more in 2013 is HTML 5. HTML 5 is a new web coding standard, that is currently being finalized, and all major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari are beeing updated to become fully compatible with this new coding standards. HTML 5 makes it possible to deliver the kind content that previously would have needed a third-party application such as Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is quite resource heavy, and therefore not particularly great to run on mobile devices. HTML 5 on the other hand, is much more lightweight, and is really going to empower online casino software developers in the coming year.
HTML 5 goes hand-in-hand with the trend for moving more towards pad devices, with a touchscreen. Just a year ago, seeing somebody using an Apple iPad was a rare sight. Fast forward to today, and not only is the Apple iPad in its third generation, there are now a huge range of similar products available running both Google Android, and soon Windows 8. This massive move towards mobile computing has made online gambling software developers sit up and take notice. Just look at some of the incredible mobile casino apps we have seen launched in the last few months, all of these were enabled by these higher powered mobile computing devices, with great a screen real estate and excellent touchscreen control.
We think that next year is going to be an exciting year for online casino software deployment. We have already seen every major casino come up with some form of mobile casino application in the last few months, and we think these will be refined in the coming months to become quite possibly the preferred way for online gamblers to access online casino sites. People are moving away from desktop computers and laptops, and becoming more mobile, and now online gambling software needs to reflect this fact.
