Senate Reluctance

August 8, 2012

Recently the USA seems to have been opening the doors for a local online gambling market, with several guy online gambling licenses being given out by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. However, all is not as rosy as it seems, and many Senators are noticeably dragging their feet when it comes to supporting this brave new face of online gambling in the USA.

We won’t mention any particular names of Senators, or the States which they represent, but the number is quite high. But why is this? Just what is the problem 0in the eyes of these officials which makes them want to stall the changes supported by many States in the USA towards changing online gambling legislation to legalise the local market? Well, undoubtedly some of the Senators in opposition would be from the get go, and would never be convinced that the legalisation of online gambling could be a good thing.

Certain States (you know the ones we refer to I am sure) are law abiding, god loving citizens, and so help me god we won’t let the devil into our homes! These States will never support an opening up of the online gambling market in the USA, and will always oppose it, and quite frankly it is their god given right to do so! (OK let’s take our tongue out of our cheek now).

Aside from the obvious suspects who we can clearly right off as opposed to any form of gambling at a grassroots level, many other Senators are concerned about basically installing video slots into every family home, and in many ways they are right too be worried. Alongside alcohol and drug addiction, gambling addiction is a major public issue, and one which can only be made worse by legalising online gambling in the USA. Well at least in the minds of those opposed.

The there are those States which would possibly suffer from some form of loss of revenue if online gambling was allowed across the USA by the lightening of online gambling legislation. These are the States that already have a significant income from real world casinos, and the opening up of the online gambling market could only dilute their revenues streams.

As we can see, the arguments against the legalisation of online gambling in the USA are justified at a very basic level by the Senators and population of certain US States.
