U.S.A. Online Gambling Race!

January 31, 2013

Over the last few months we have seen some pretty amazing things happen with regards to online gambling in the U.S.A. Local state level governments have been reviewing their online gambling legislation, in a move to open up a local online casino market. First to move forward with this was the State of Nevada, with the Nevada Gaming Control Board issuing multiple online gambling licenses to both online casino operators, and 3rd part online gambling service providers.

More recently, New Hampshire began to make a similar move to that made in Nevada, and it looked very much like New Hampshire would be the next American State to revise its gambling legislation to allow local online casino companies to operate within its borders. However, we have just heard that the State of Massachusetts is also now moving forward with some proposed changes to online gambling legislation.

At the beginning of January, the Massachusetts Gambling Commission began accepting applications from online casino operator, with a view to granting them online gambling licenses. This was alongside the eleven applications for real world online casino licenses it received, due to the planned construction of several more casino resorts within the state.

New Hampshire is already entertaining similar applications form online gambling companies even though it has yet to make a firm decision on the proposed changes to state level online gambling legislation. We can only see these applications as a good thing though; it is a guide to how serious New Hampshire is about picking up a chunk of online gambling tax revenue in the not too distant future.

Overall, the future for online gambling in America looks pretty good, we already have three states, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Nevada making some very interesting moves, and we could well see these three states grab a huge chunk of the American online gambling market unless other states get into gear.

It was only just over a year ago that thousands of online poker players in America found their access to online casino sites cut off, and the casino balances in jeopardy. Many who play online poker for a living have relocated to other countries such as Mexico and Canada. So let’s hope these new changes to gambling legislation at state level can stop this exodus, and keep American online casino players in America. It will be an interesting year for sure, as we see how things progress.
