888 Now Legal in Nevada

It all started way back in 2011 when the Nevada Gaming Control Board declared that it would start entertaining applications for an online gambling license from suitable online casino sits and third party providers. Months later, after much discussion, the Nevada Gaming Control Board has just issued the very first online gambling license to 888 online casino.

Speaking on Behalf of 888 online casino, Brian Mattingley, the Chief Executive Officer has said that, “This is an historic moment for 888. This is the first time a company uniquely providing online gaming has been licensed by any US jurisdiction. Seen in the industry as the gold standard of global gaming regulation, we are delighted to have been awarded our licence to operate in the State of Nevada, a decision that vindicates our US strategy.”

We have to say that we share Brian’s enthusiasm, and whole heartedly agree that this is a watershed event for American online gambling, and indeed, global online gambling, as it is likely that many other nations will follow the example set by key American States such as Nevada and New Jersey.

Following on from this news, we can also tell you that 888 is also going to be partnering with Caesars Casino to build an online poker site, and with WMS to develop online slot versions of its casino slot games. This is massive business for 888, and certainly something that has been enabled by this new Nevada online gambling license.

Although 888 online casino is the first online gambling operator to be given a Nevada online gambling license, we are pretty sure that this will now lead to a flood of new licenses being issued in coming weeks. We also think that New Jersey will follow behind Nevada very closely, although it is a little behind in the online gambling license application process.

All of this is fantastic news for American online gambling fans, it really can now only be a matter of time before every American citizen has access to a legal online casino in their home state, and this is something we have wanted to see for years.
