MGM Online Gambling License
November 4, 2012
Most people recognize MGM as a movie and TV production company. And although it does operate in this market, it is also a fairly diversified operation. MGM has been involved in the online gambling arena for several years, and is keen to open its own online casino site within America. With this in mind, MGM has recently applied to one of the new USA online gambling licenses with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Although MGM is yet to receive its USA online gambling license, if the situation pans out in the same way for MGM, as it has for other large American-based corporations, then the company should receive its online gambling license very soon, allowing it to begin developing a fully-fledged online casino site for American-based online gamblers.
If we consider the fact that the USA online gambling market is expected to hit as much as $10 million per year by 2017, then we can clearly see why major players such as MGM are looking to break into this arena. This is a serious amount of cash available to companies which are able to get the jump on this market, by receiving one of the early USA online gambling licenses from the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
We have quite openly stated previously that we are becoming somewhat alarmed at the fact that it only seems to be major USA based companies that are being considered for these early USA gambling licenses. And that we can see the USA online gambling market becoming saturated and controlled by companies that have interest predominantly within the borders of the USA. Although this is primarily a good thing, as we can expect reputable online casino sites to be developed, we do believe that allowing any market to be captured in this fashion is an open invitation to monopolization. We would prefer to see more international online casino operators, and online gambling companies issued with these new American online gambling licenses. We are waiting to see if the Nevada Gaming Control Board will eventually begin issuing licenses to foreign-based online gambling companies.
