More Online Gambling Licenses
July 10, 2012
Things seem to be happy fast over in the USA with regards to the legalization of online gambling (in to complete contrast to the antiquated attitude adopted by the Government of Cyprus last week). Just a couple of weeks back we bought you the news that Bally Technologies, a leading online casino software developer, had been recommended and later approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board for the first ever US online gambling license.
We have just heard that a second company, Reno, has been awarded an online gambling license by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, which is obviously good news for Reno, and ultimately good news for online gambling fans in the USA.
We also found out that quite a few additional companies have applied for a US online gambling license, and some of these are truly major players such as Caesars Entertainment and MGM. When it comes to companies of this magnitude, it is usually a forgone conclusion that this kind of license will be granted, so we fully expect both of these gambling behemoths to shift in to top gear once they are able to legally operate in the USA.
With Bally Technologies and Reno both officially now allowed to operate within the online gambling marketplace within the USA, we think we will begin to see some new innovation, as they both take advantage of the mature commercial environment which the USA (with some exceptions) is noted for. In many ways, this gives both companies a very firm foothold in Western markets, and one which they can now exploit to the fullest.
It seems obvious to us that the USA is gearing up to become an accommodating location for online gambling in general, but we also notice that it is only really considering large, reputable organizations for the granting of an online gambling license, and we thing this is a good thing overall. However, it would be a shame if companies such as MG and Caesars Entertainment were to use the incredible resources at their disposal and attempt to dominate the emerging online gambling market in the USA. We would like to see more true technology innovators, such as Bally Technologies, to be considered for one of these valuable new online gambling licenses.
