Net Entertainment Enter the Mobile Slots Marketplace
December 29, 2011
Mobile online slots are becoming very popular. It was only last week that we reported on Microgaming releasing a range of their online slots in a mobile format. Following close on Microgaming’s lead, Net Entertainment have today announced a new mobile slots platform – NetEnt Touch.
The new NetEnt Touch will be targeting the iPad, iPhone and iPod mobile platforms. Unlike the offering unveiled by Microgaming, Net Entertainment will not be making Android versions of their popular online slots available at this time. However, with Google Android fast grabbing a healthy market share of the mobile device OS market, we have to wonder if NetEnt Touch will be extended to the Android platform in the future? We presume it will, as it makes no sense to ignore all those Android using online slots players out there.
NetEnt Touch will initially launch with only three of the most popular Net Entertainment online slots available. These are Blackjack, Jack Hammer and Gonzos Quest. Once again, we cannot help but compare this release against Microgaming’s just a couple of weeks back. Microgaming made a huge selection of online slots available in a mobile format. Net Entertainment are launching with but three.
Taking the combined facts of no Android mobile slots launched, alongside a paltry three online slots titles, we have to wonder whether Net Entertainment have released the NetEnt Touch platform in a hurry, simply to try and keep up with Microgaming.
Net Entertainment have stated that they do intend to deploy more mobile online slots games in the future, but no timescale or further details have been released. Again, this seems strange; we would think that Net Entertainment would want to push the new NetEnt Touch brand as far as possible on launch. Stating that X, Y and Z game would soon be released would have done much to help the launch. Again we have to wonder if Net Entertainment is actually ready to enter the mobile slots marketplace at this time?
For now, online slots players who are looking for some decent online slots play on their mobile devices, using either Google Android enabled or Apple mobile devices would do well to stick with Microgaming based online casinos. Simply because the Microgaming mobile slots platform is that much better than Net Entertainments at present. However, this situation is sure to change in the coming months as NetEnt Touch matures.
