Net Entertainment Will Launch Online Casino

February 18, 2012

Nobody can dispute the fact that launching a new online casino is tough, due to the market being saturated and the big name casinos jealously guarding their market share. To successfully launch a new online casino requires an edge. Net Entertainment has such an edge, and they have recently announced firm plans to exploit it.

As one of the largest developers of online slots and gambling games in the world, with a tried and tested online gaming platform, Net Entertainment face a vastly reduced launch overhead, they simply have everything they need in-house to develop a killer online casino of their own.

As part of its 2011 financial report, Net Entertainment introduced its shareholders to the NetEnt Live Casino; a project currently in development, which when completed will see Net Entertainment enter the online casino arena in their own right, instead of licensing their online slots platform to third parties. The decision to enter the marketplace directly was made in the last quarter of 2011, with a planned launch date of around the end of 2012.

Few details have been released regarding the feature set of NetEnt Live Casino so far, but we are willing to take a guess. We are sure that NetEnt Live Casino will use Net Entertainment’s proprietary online gaming platform, including the networked progressive jackpot pools shared with other casinos. We are also sure that mobile slots will make up a large part of the casino. Mobile slots are becoming big business, and Net Entertainment is in an enviable position, with plenty of online slots in their stable, which could be redeveloped into mobile slots.

One thing we see as being something of a problem is the fact that Net Entertainment will now be entering into direct competition with other online casinos which license the Net Entertainment online slots platform for their own use. In effect, Net Entertainment will be providing the vehicle for other online casino operators to compete directly with NetEnt Live Casino. The flip side of this is that current Net Entertainment licensees will soon find themselves in competition with an online casino which does not need to pay licensing costs, meaning it can afford to operate on a slimmer margin. We fully expect some legal wrangling towards the end of the year, close to the launch date of NetEnt Live Casino.
