Online Gambling a Go in New Jersey

Well, it’s been a long time coming hasn’t it? It was well over a year ago that we first published the news that the Nevada Gaming Control Board was considering granting online gambling licenses to allow online casino operators to operate legally within the state. If think we all thought that Nevada would be the first US state to allow online casino play, but New Jersey has beat them across the finish line.

Just a few days ago, New Jersey completed a four day trial, which saw several online casino operators offer online gambling services within the state. This has been lauded as a great success, with no major problems, and the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey has given the go ahead for six online gambling sites to open up in the state.

David Rebuck, Divisional Director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, has said that, “At this point in time, the casinos are trying to gear up for larger play in the state. I don't expect any widespread, significant problems.”

So there we have it, it is now legal to play at locally licensed online casino sites in New Jersey, and this is amazingly good news for the US online gambling market. Six online gambling sites have been given the go ahead, several of which are tied in to real world casinos. The list includes Bally's Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, Tropicana Casino and Resort, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, and the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.

The fact that New Jersey and the Division of Gaming Enforcement have allowed these six online gambling sites to start offering an online casino service, means that eventually, other US states will follow suit at some stage or another.
