Possible Acquisition by Bally Technologies

December 6, 2012

The first of two sources revealed that Bally Technologies senior executives were scheduled to visit 3G, to make an actual formal acquisition bid. Bally Technologies has declined to comment on this, but it should be noted that certain key hiring’s in to the Bally Technologies company, would tend to indicate that this rumor may be true.

The second of two sources has revealed that 3G Studios, which has already collaborated with Bally Technologies in the past, has been discussing possible acquisition and merger with other interested partners. Indeed, 3G Studios has confirmed that it has been seeking a possible merger partner for some time, and has held talks with many interested parties.

3G Studios had already planned to move into the new USA online gambling market, and had applied to the Nevada Gaming Control Board for a full online gambling license earlier in the year. Whichever company decides to purchase 3G Studios, they can expect to pay between $60 million and $100 million. 3G Studios also has its own online casino site in development, which will focus mostly on online slots, and is called SlotAlot. This would also be a useful acquisition for Bally Technologies.

At first glance, this may seem a very strange trading partnership to be seeking, but consider for a moment the Bally Technologies lays behind the competition in terms of online slot development for some time now, then it makes sense for the company to want to inject new technology, or reinvent its existing technology to become more up-to-date. So the acquisition of 3G Studios would add value to the Bally Technologies technology stack. This will allow Bally Technologies to make up for lost ground, and begin to compete once again with the likes of Microgaming, Cryptologic and Net Entertainment. We will certainly keep an eye on this possible merger, and bringing future news which crops up regarding this matter.
