Summarizing Online Gambling Changes

July 6, 2012

There can be no doubt at all that June was an incredible month for the online gambling industry, and ultimately online slots fans. Three pretty incredible things happened last month, and although we reported on each of these separately when they occurred, we feel it might be informative to summarize them together below:

First up we have the whole situation with Bally Technologies. We first bought you news of the Nevada Gaming Control Board sponsoring Bally Technologies to become the first ever company to receive an online gambling license in the USA> We followed this up later in the month with the news that Bally Technologies has now been approved for this license. This is truly groundbreaking and a good indication of things to come.

The second exciting piece of news we bought you in June was that Playtech, the world famous online slots developer, which is the platform provider for hundreds of online casinos around the world, has now begun to make its shares tradable on the London Stock Exchange. This is a great sign of the maturity of Playtech as a respectable company, and also an exciting event, as Playtech is the first company of this kind to begin allowing public trading of its shares, although we are sure it will not be the last!

The final, and possibly the most important piece of news we bought you last month concerned the changes to gambling legislation made in Delaware. Previously, Delaware State gambling legislation made online gambling illegal, but in an amazing turn of events, a bill has been passed to legalize online gambling in Delaware! This makes Delaware the very first State to allow online gambling within its borders, and we truly hope that others soon follow, opening up the USA online gambling market completely.

So there it is, a summary of the major events of June, and we are sure that you agree with us that seeing them all together gives a good indication of just how quickly the online gambling market is changing around the world. Of course this is ultimately good news for us online slots players!
