Zynga Slots Success

Zynga are one, if not the most successful developer of socially enabled gaming applications. Well known for Facebook games such as Words with Friends and FarmVille, and more recently its online gambling platform Zynga Poker. Indeed, since its launch, Zynga Poker has continually been the most popular online poker room on both the Facebook and Google+ social networking sites. A while back Zynga started making some noises about a possible online slots application, which could eventually see the company launch in to the traditional online gambling marketplace. This new application, Zynga Slots, was recently launched on Facebook, and overnight it became the most popular online slots application on the site.

Zynga have stated that the new Zynga Slots platform, alongside the Zynga Poker platform could well form the basis of a true online casino offering should the continuing trend towards the legalization of online gambling around the globe continue. This hypothesis would seem to be in line with a statement made by a Zynga representative thus, “We continue to believe that there is significant option value in Zynga for the legalization of online gambling, which is not reflected in ZNGA shares…We believe there will be gambling potential on nearly all of Zynga’s games. However, the most immediate traction will be in traditional casinos games.”

Consider for a moment the sheer number of players that enjoy Zynga products, including Zynga Poker and the new Zynga Slots platform. Now consider the fact that many of these players do in fact spend real cash to purchase in game powerups and other bonuses, and it does not take a huge leap of logic to realize that Zynga, if it was to launch a proper online casino, would pretty much have a ready-made player base tied up and in the bag from the word go. We wait with interest to see what will now happen, and whether Zynga will indeed enter the online gambling marketplace, and become serious competition to online slots casino such as Jackpotjoy, All Slots and others.
